DELAWARE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $14,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO DELAWARE COUNTY STUDENTS

Media, PA….June 15, 2016….The Delaware County Community Foundation (DCCF), which supports charitable giving in the county through grantmaking, charitable vehicles, fund management, and community resources, is pleased to announce that it has awarded 14 scholarships totaling $14,500 to deserving students from Delaware County. The scholarships, provided by endowed and non-endowed funds managed and administered by DCCF, assist students from Delaware County with furthering their education.

“DCCF is proud to fulfill the vision of donors who have made access to education their primary charitable goal,” said Iris Leon, executive director of DCCF. “DCCF’s mission is to use community-driven philanthropy to improve the lives of Delaware County residents. Through our scholarship funds, we are able to achieve that mission and we are honored to support deserving students in their pursuit of quality secondary and higher education.”

Scholarship recipients must meet eligibility criteria, including financial need and merit qualifications, and demonstrate enrollment at an accredited college, university, vocational or technical institute during the 2016-2017 academic year. Scholarships were also awarded to two students attending Delaware County Catholic High Schools.

Students were awarded scholarships from the following funds: Arthur & Christine Burgee Fund; Lansdowne High School Class of ‘53 Fund; Joseph R. Logue Scholarship; Robert Malkovsky Memorial Fund; and Mellon Certified Restoration Scholarship Fund.

DCCF allows individuals, businesses, and families to establish scholarship funds based on unique criteria for as little as $10,000.
